That study confirmed what we had long suspected—traditional putter shafts oscillate during the stroke. And when putting demands a square face at impact, even the slightest movement matters.

So we engineered a solution: a patented putter shaft that eliminates that unwanted flex while preserving the classic feel of steel. It took two years to perfect. The result was the Stability shaft—one of the most popular and proven putter shafts ever made.

We applied our performance-first philosophy across the entire shaft lineup. That became our business. But the mission didn’t stop there.

Barney Adams founded Adams Golf in 1988, specializing in custom-fitted golf clubs. The company gained national recognition following the groundbreaking success of the Tight Lies Fairway Woods, which revolutionized the way golfers approached their long game. This innovation propelled Adams Golf to rapid growth and earned Barney the Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year award from Ernst & Young. His contributions to the sport were further recognized when he received the Ernie Sabayrac Award from the PGA of America for his lifetime impact on the golf industry. Barney led the company as Chairman of the Board until 2012, when TaylorMade acquired Adams Golf.

An avid golfer and fisherman, Barney is also deeply committed to philanthropy, actively supporting The Ryan Foundation and Folds of Honor.
